Vehicle Servicing and Repairs

Our workshops are fully equipped to deal with your Land Rover and Range Rover needs.  There are some jobs that only JLR retailers can do but we can help and advise on them.

We have invested heavily in the latest diagnostic equipment from Jaguar Land Rover “SDD and Pathfinder”, Autologic “Assistplus” and from Diagnostic Associates. In addition, we have in excess of 450 specialist tools.

If your Land Rover or Range Rover is covered by a Land Rover extended warranty, approved used vehicle warranty or by an aftermarket warranty, we can carry out any work covered by them and help to deal with the warranty company.

Servicing
We will carry out any service your car requires and if it is out of the manufacturer’s warranty period we can use good quality aftermarket parts to keep the cost down. Our Parts Department has one of the most comprehensive parts stocks around so it is easy to tune the service to suit your needs.

Repairs and Breakdowns
We are happy to quote for most work on any Land Rover or Range Rover and with our vast parts stock, it is normally possible for us to complete most jobs without the need to order parts in therefore completing the job in good time.

Key Replacement and Spare Keys
Key blades and some key fobs have to be ordered from Land Rover but most of the later types of fob we keep in stock and we have the technology and permissions to program them to your car. Cut key blades can take ten days to get.

Vehicle Appraisal
We often carry out appraisals on customers Land Rovers and Range Rovers. This is mostly done on older vehicles or those just purchased, to gain an overall understanding of the vehicles condition and to judge whether spending money on it is a good idea. The appraisal can normally be done in an hour.

MOT’s
We carry out Class 4 MOT’s on site and Class 7 are arranged locally.

We also offer other services that both the early and later more technically advanced models require to keep them running well.
  • Gearbox oil flushing – Needed to keep the later automatic gearbox in good order
  • Air conditioning re-gas – Checks for all models
  • DPF flush – Strongly advised both for environmental and reliability reasons
  • Diesel exhaust fluid (Add Blue) top up
  • Tyres – We have a good stock of tyres and can fit and balance on site

Servicing of Land Rovers and Range Rovers That are Still Under the JLR Manufacturer’s Warranty
It is a popular misconception that it is not possible for Keith Gott, as an independent Land Rover specialist, to service or repair your vehicle if it is still under its JLR manufacturer’s warranty.  This is completely untrue. As long as we use Genuine Land Rover Parts and Land Rovers service schedules and procedures, your warranty will not be affected.

The diagnostic equipment we have is the same as the main dealers; in fact, there are advantages in getting us to do the service work as we can advise you on any warranty work your car may need before its warranty expires.

Service History / On-Line Service History (OSH)
All new Land Rovers and Range Rovers built from 1st July 2013 have their full service history available to access online.

Pre-delivery inspection, all scheduled services, related service items and body inspections are all accessible. This vehicle history is also updated each time you visit an approved service centre or authorised independent garage, such as ourselves.

As a UK owner, you can now register to access your cars On-line Service History. It is important to note that JLR use the online service history as proof of correct servicing in the case of any warranty.

Please note, we will only update the OSH if we have carried out the service ourselves.

Service Book
Land Rovers and Range Rovers built before 1st July 2013 have a service book. It is important to keep this up to date to help maintain the vehicle value and to keep the car maintained correctly.

Service Schedules
All Land Rovers and Range Rovers have a service schedule. This is drawn up by JLR with two goals in mind; to make the car last a reasonable length of time and to keep the cost of ownership down to promote new car sales. It is also based on the car being used for normal driving with a mix of town and motorway use. There are some driving conditions and vehicle uses that may alter the effectiveness of the standard service schedule:-
  • Prolonged short journeys and town driving can lead to problems with late vehicles fitted with Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) as they do not reach the correct temperature for long enough and can block up.
  • If a car is used for a lot of high speed motorway work or heavy towing, it is recommended to shorten the service intervals as the engine oil will degrade quicker. It is also recommended that the transmission oils are changed more often. Plus, on heavier cars, brake wear can be an issue.
  • If a car is used for long periods in dry and dusty conditions (e.g. building sites or farm tracks) then more regular air filter changes may be required.
  • The increasing percentages of bio fuels being added into the lower cost fuels is causing some concern. We are finding more incidents of blocked fuel filters on some models and are getting more engine injector issues on the later models. We now recommend the use of premium fuels where possible.
  • Some JLR models do not have scheduled gearbox and other transmission oil changes (oiled for life is the term used). We have found that the life of these components is much longer if the oil is changed regularly.
