At Keith Gotts, we provide Class 4 MOT testing.  This is the annual inspection required by UK law to ensure your vehicle is safe, roadworthy, and meets emissions standards.

WHAT IS AN MOT?

An MOT (Ministry of Transport Test) is a legal requirement for most vehicles over three years old. Driving without one can lead to:

  • Fines of up to £1,000.
  • Insurance becoming invalid.
  • Penalty points or even prosecution in serious cases.


During an MOT, we’ll check key safety elements of your vehicle including:

  • Brakes and suspension.
  • Lights and electrics.
  • Tyres and wheels.
  • Seat belts and structure.
  • Emissions levels.


It's not a service.  It’s a safety check, required every 12 months to stay legal.

Need a Class 7 MOT? The Workshop has you Covered.


If you have a Class 7 vehicle,  (usually a larger commercial van or 4x4 over 3,000kg) we don’t test those directly at Keith Gotts.


But our sister brand, The Workshop, in Alton does. Luckily it's less than a 10 minute drive away.


We’re happy to arrange the booking on your behalf, or refer you directly to their team.

MOT FAQ' S

  • Do you carry out MOT tests on-site?

    Yes, we have a fully equipped DVSA-approved MOT testing bay. Our technicians carry out MOTs for Land Rovers & Range Rovers of all ages. For vehicles larger than 3000kg, we can arrange for your MOT to be completed at our sister company, The Workshop in Alton.

  • Can I book my MOT and service together?

    Absolutely. Many customers book their MOT and service together for convenience. If your vehicle fails the MOT, we can carry out the repairs needed. 

  • What happens if my vehicle fails the MOT?

    If your vehicle fails, we’ll provide a clear report of all issues.

  • How long does an MOT take?

    A standard MOT test usually takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. You’re welcome to wait in our reception area with free Wi-Fi and refreshments.

  • Do you send MOT reminders?

    Yes, we’ll send you a reminder when your MOT is due or booked in, so you never risk your certificate expiring.

  • Do you offer MOTs for older or classic Land Rovers?

    Yes, we MOT and inspect classic Series, Defender, and Range Rover models. Even if your Land Rover is MOT-exempt by age, many owners still choose an annual inspection for peace of mind.

  • What should I bring to my MOT?

    Just your vehicle and V5C (log book) if it’s your first MOT with us. We’ll handle the rest, including checking your MOT history online.

  • How do I book an MOT?

    You can call our team, or visit us in Alton. If your MOT is due soon, we’ll always try to fit you in the same week.

  • Do you offer any discounts?

    Yes, we offer 10% off pre-scheduled MOT's if you have a Blue Light Card.
